Alan H. Swan
Alan Swan has practiced law in south Georgia for nearly 4 decades. He attended the University of Georgia for his undergraduate career, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1976. He fell in love with Athens and with UGA, and he decided to continue his studies at Georgia Law. He earned his Juris Doctor and was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 1979.
He returned to Tifton and went to work for a local firm. During his early legal career, he gained experience in multiple legal areas, eventually gaining notoriety as a trial lawyer defending insurance companies in personal injury cases. He eventually became partner in the firm, but defending large corporations who sought to keep money from the hands of the injured quickly lost its appeal. He chose to leave the firm and pursue a solo career fighting against the same insurance companies he had represented so successfully.
During his legal career, Alan has presided as a judge in municipal court and as the disciplinary hearing officer for the Tift and Worth county school systems. He has served as the President of the local Bar Associate. He is admitted to practice in all state and superior courts in the state of Georgia, as well as the Georgia Court of Appeals, Georgia Supreme Court, and the United States District Court for the Middle and Northern Districts, and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.
